Materials meant to evolve.
Chapman & Bose produces hardware with a focus on material behavior over time. Each piece is cut, stitched, or machined by hand in a workshop in Toronto, Canada, using materials selected for durability and use.
The collection works in vegetable-tanned leather, solid brass, and stainless steel. Leather is stitched where the construction requires it, with the seam integrated into the form. Metal components are made from solid stock, unlacquered, with a softened but evident finish. No plating or surface sealing is applied.
These materials change with use. Leather deepens in tone at points of contact. Brass and bronze develop patina. Stainless steel refines where handled. The surface at installation is not fixed, but an initial state that evolves with time and interaction.

- Chosen to Wear
- Vegetable-tanned leather, solid brass, bronze, stainless steel. Selected for how they age and respond to use, not how they appear at installation.
- Stitched by Hand
- Leather is saddle stitched where structure requires it. The seam is left visible and becomes part of the form rather than being concealed.
- Patina as Record
- Surfaces shift over time. Leather darkens and softens at contact points. Brass and bronze develop patina. Stainless steel refines where it is handled. The installed condition is an initial state, not a fixed finish.
- Studio Made
- Each piece is cut, stitched, turned, or machined by hand after order. Lead times reflect fabrication time, not stock availability.
